Yet another colleague of ours, Shivaji Mane, had succumbed to COVID-19, at the age of just 43. Shivaji fought a severe infection for two long weeks, and breathed his last at the Command Hospital around 1.45 am. He had been moved there from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cantonment General Hospital Pune to receive better facilities and treatment. While his condition had continued to deteriorate rapidly over a fortnight, his family and dear ones had clung to the minor hope that he would survive the battle.
